Rack the Shot

  • Cue ball

2.5 diamonds off the head rail, 1.5 diamonds off the left rail

  • Object ball

½ a diamond off the head rail, ½ a diamond off the right rail

  • Target pocket

    Top-right corner pocket

  • Cut angle

⅞-ball cut(5° off the pocket line)

The faint outlined ball on the diagram is the ghost ball — aim your cue ball straight at it and the object ball goes in the pocket.

The Setup

Pocket the OB in the corner; cue ball comes off the short rail, then the far long rail, and dies before it can pick up a third rail. Lands back near where the OB was.

Technique

Soft stun with a touch of inside english. Pace is the key — just enough to complete two rails without grabbing a third.

What it teaches

Speed control for stopping the cue ball on a specific rail count.
