Rack the Shot

  • Cue ball

1.5 diamonds off the head rail, 2 diamonds off the left rail

  • Object ball

½ a diamond off the head rail, ½ a diamond off the right rail

  • Target pocket

    Top-right corner pocket

  • Cut angle

Straight (full ball)(4° off the pocket line)

The faint outlined ball on the diagram is the ghost ball — aim your cue ball straight at it and the object ball goes in the pocket.

The Setup

Pocket the OB in the corner from the head end, then send the cue ball three rails diagonally across the table to land near the opposite corner.

Technique

Three-quarters tip of high (top) english, firm pace. The combined topspin and running side keep all three rebounds open.

What it teaches

High english with pace for a long three-rail diagonal pattern.
