Rack the Shot

  • Cue ball

1 diamond off the foot rail, ½ a diamond off the left rail

  • Object ball

3 diamonds off the head rail, 1 diamond off the right rail

  • Target pocket

    Top-right corner pocket

  • Cut angle

⅞-ball cut(14° off the pocket line)

The faint outlined ball on the diagram is the ghost ball — aim your cue ball straight at it and the object ball goes in the pocket.

The Setup

Cue ball near the corner pocket on the foot end; OB sits diagonally up-table. Pocket the OB in the far corner and draw the cue ball the full length of the table back to where it started.

Technique

Low draw, level cue, firm accelerating stroke. A square, full hit on the OB is critical at this distance.

What it teaches

Long-distance draw under control — a true stroke check.
